Natural Paint & Pigments

Using foraged materials, students will learn how to process natural pigments by making 1/2 palettes of watercolor, gouache and if time allows, pastels.
Participants can bring home the artist's materials they make as well as what they foraged.
Materials for each stage of the process will be prepared ahead of time and handouts with recipes will be provided.

Eco Printing
w/ Kathleen Lang
Sunday June 7th 10-2:30 pm
Join instructor Kathleen Lang in this unique and intriguing Masterclass Workshop. Create a silk scarf while exploring the textile designing and dyeing technique called eco printing. Eco printing employs the use of botanical items such as leaves, flower blossoms, and other natural elements directly on the fabric producing dye prints from the plant design. The workshop will begin with a demonstration, discussion about plant items and the colors they produce, followed by guidance through designing and processing the colors into the scarf. Participants will take home their newly created one-of-a-kind scarf. Upon registration students will receive a materials list and other information in preparation for the workshop. Silk scarf included in workshop fee.
Includes 8" x 72” silk scarf and all other workshop supplies except plant material.* Students will be sent a list of what plants are best to design with.

* From time to time participants are unable to collect items. Please email Kathleen 2 weeks before if you cannot bring botanicals to the workshop. She can prepare materials for an additional $20, payable in cash day of the workshop.


Encaustic One Day Workshop
W/ Mona Brody & Catherine LeCleire
Whether you’re a beginner or have experience, this workshop is designed to guide you step-by-step through the creative possibilities of painting with wax. The workshop will begin with a brief overview of encaustic history and its unique characteristics, followed by safety tips to ensure a comfortable and secure environment. Participants will learn about encaustic materials; wax, pigments, tools, and explore fundamental techniques such as layering, fusing, and creating texture.
After the initial instruction, everyone will have the opportunity to experiment and create their own work during guided studio time. The workshop encourages creativity and exploration, feel free to bring your own ideas and inspirations. By the end of the day, you will have gained practical skills and produced several finished paintings, along with newfound confidence in working with wax.
For those considering the Encaustic Paint Making Workshop on July 19th, this will be a valuable addition (but not a requirement) to better understand the potential of this unique wax painting medium.

Encaustic Paint Making Workshop
